The only place to get Dazzling Stones in Kingdom Hearts is by defeating the Jet Balloon Heartless in Neverland. It has a 100% drop rate, but actually bringing it down can be challenging.
Further, it has a 20% chance of dropping an additional stone.
Even getting this thing to appear can be annoying. You’ll have to exit and enter the area multiple times, hoping that it shows up every time you do. Don’t lose hope!
As you might have guessed, the Jet Balloon is fast. It zips all around at the speed of light and loves barreling into Sora. Here’s another fun fact about Jet Balloon: it loves munny! Specifically, your munny!
Every time the Jet Balloon hits Sora, he also knocks out a substantial amount of cash.
If you’re not careful, or maybe even lower-level, you can go from hero to zero real quick.
The Dazzling Stone has a 100% drop rate but only if you have 100 or more munny left when you beat him. This can make the fight a real huge pain in the butt if you don’t have the skills (or munny) to pay the bills.
The Jet Balloon
He’s fast. Real fast.
He makes it a point to fly away from Sora and then attack when you’re trying to orientate yourself. This is a fight that will get you really good at flying (if you weren’t already).
The obvious answer would be Stop magic, right? Well, yes and no.
The Jet Balloon is resistant to the spell, meaning that a Stop spell will halt him–but only for a few seconds.
You’re going to have to get good at cutting him off at the pass and then hitting him with a Stop so you’re close enough to get a few whacks in. This game of chase is the whole fight, but it’s a real test of your movement skill.
Aero spells help a lot here.
Having one on Sora deflects the many missiles the Jet Balloon will fire at you, leaving you open to focus solely on chasing it down.
Also, stack as many Treasure Magnet abilities as you can. This helps suck back up all the money that Jet Balloon will inevitably knock out of you.
Using Dazzling Stones
The good news here is that you only need 6 Dazzling Stones to make one of everything that requires them via synthesis.
So you’ll only need to beat Jet Balloon a maximum of 6 times (even less if you get lucky with additional drops).
Only two recipes call for the Dazzling Stone: the EXP Bracelet and Goofy’s Seven Elements. The EXP Bracelet is super useful all the time, but the Seven Elements is completely situational. There are better shields available.
Still, you need to make both these things to gain access to the Ultima Weapon, so get crafting!
