Best Farming Spot | Hollow Bastion – Grand Hall |
The only Heartless that drops Energy Stones is the Stealth Soldier. You can find these sneaky sinisters in the halls of Hollow Bastion, specifically in the Great Hall (where you fought Riku). Enter the world at the Chapel save point, then turn around, go through the Lift Stop and into the Grand Hall.
You’ll always have to clear out the first wave of Heartless (three Wizards and a Large Body) before seeing if you can get a Stealth Soldier. If Defenders and regular Soldier heartless pop up, leave and come back to try again.
If two Large Bodies appear then you’ve got a shot at a Stealth Soldier.
They are invisible, of course, so clear out the Large Bodies ASAP and use your target lock to find them (odds are that they’ll have attacked you by then anyway).
Stealth Soldiers have a 35% chance of dropping an Energy Stone, which is one of the lower drop rates for special Heartless. Just stay vigilant!
Tip: If you need to make more Stealth Soldiers appear, it’s better to warp to your Gummi Ship and then immediately return, rather than simply leaving the room. This increases the odds of a spawn.
Beating Stealth Soldiers
These guys are all about the sneak attack.
Pretty obvious, given their name and translucent properties. Luckily, being invisible doesn’t prevent you from locking on to them.
Snagging that Lock-on will help a lot. As will your Stop magic.
Hitting them with a Stop spell will cause them to become visible–and give you a chance to strike!
Hitting the Stealth Soldier hard and fast with physical attacks is the way to go here.
If you deal enough damage, the screen will flash and it’ll lose its invisibility, giving you some time to wallop it. Using a keyblade like Oblivion or Metal Chocobo here, alongside accessories that stack strength, really gives you the edge.
Using Energy Stones
There’s only two synthesis items that use Energy Stones, but they’re doozies:
- The EXP Bracelet, which increases EXP earned by 30% (for everyone)
- The Fantasia, which is arguably Donald’s best weapon
There is a Staff that has higher raw attack power than the Fantasia, but Donald is all about the casting. So the extra MP and magic that the Fantasia provides is probably the better choice.
It all depends on how you keep your duck–though it’s a solid weapon either way.
