The easiest way to get Lucid Crystals is to fight and farm Darkball heartless.
These creatures start appearing in most worlds after you beat Riku in Hollow Bastion. The best place to farm them is at the Moonlight Hill area in Halloween Town. It has the highest concentration of Darkballs.
10 or so Darkballs appear in this area each time.
The drop rate for Lucid Crystals is unfortunately low, but the odds are still pretty good, considering how many Darkballs you’ll be clearing out each run.
Darkballs
One of the staple late-game enemies, these rotund floaters appear with just about every enemy group after Hollow Bastion.
Their primary attack is a speedy series of dashes that has a surprisingly wide area-of-effect. While doing this, all physical attacks will be deflected.
As it does with most things, Thunder magic works great against Darkballs. Not so much with other magic, though, so stick to either the bolts or plain ol’ keyblade swings.
Having an Aero spell up also helps.
Darkballs love doing their invincible dashing attack right when Sora is up close and personal, and Aero will help mitigate that damage (if not remove it completely).
Overall, Darkballs aren’t terribly hard to deal with.
They have annoying invincibility periods, but nothing that can’t be waited out.
Honestly, the worst thing about these spherical fellas is that they often appear with other heavier heartless – and their antics can really cause the damage to pile up.
Bambi (Hollow Bastion)
Summoning Bambi in Hollow Bastion can net you a Lucid Crystal, if you’re good enough to fill up his gauges.
The best place to use him and his ability for item drops is right at the Castle Gates.
This entrance area has a lot of small-fry Heartless that spawn a lot, so you have ample opportunity to earn lots of charge on that Bambi Bar.
Using Lucid Crystals
You’ll need 9 Lucid Crystals to make one of everything that requires them–so the grind isn’t too bad.
Out of the three recipes involved, the creme de la creme is the Crystal Crown, which increases all stats and is a perfect addition to any endgame equipment.
