The best way to farm for Power Shards is to head to the Deep Jungle Camp and start wrecking Powerwilds and Bouncywilds.
About six or so of these heartless will appear each time you refresh the zone. Inside the tent is a Save Point, which is super convenient to heal and leave the world.
With easy access to the Wilds family, getting Power Shard shouldn’t take you too much time at all.
Powerwilds and Bouncywilds
These two simian Heartless both can drop Power Shards.
Equip the Encounters Plus ability and enter the Deep Jungle from the Tent save point. Then it’s only a matter of exiting and entering the tent until you get what you need.
Both Bouncy and Powers love doing what monkeys do:
Jump around everywhere and swing wildly to cause damage.
They can be tricky to hit, especially with Kingdom Hearts’ janky camera. Magic helps, but honestly the best tactic is to just swing as wildly as they do and jump head-first into the thick of the fight.
Thankfully, they don’t have too much HP and once you land a hit or three, that’ll be that.
Bambi (Halloween Town)
Bambi’s whole gimmick is that, once summoned, he prances around and drops MP and HP orbs and when his time is up, he’ll drop an item or two.
What items he drops depends on how many heartless you’ve defeated while he was around.
Defeating a Heartless fills the Forest Prince’s charge bar.
Filling it twice in Halloween Town gives you a 40% chance at a Power Shard and filling it three times gets you a 60% chance.
If you’re in Halloween Town anyway to get Lucid Gems, then you can beat two Heartless with one stone by summoning Bambi as you farm!
White Mushrooms
White Mushrooms in Atlantica are the only ones that can drop Power Shards.
To have a shot at it, you’ll have to wait until they freeze frame and then cast Stop on them.
Tip: This Stop spell has to be the third spell you cast. The first two don’t matter, give them whatever they want, but the third has to be Stop. If it is, you’ll get a Power Shard 100% of the time.
This all sounds promising, but hear me out:
First, you have to go to Atlantica–yuck. Swimming while trying to accommodate mushrooms is no fun.
Second, this whole process is so time-consuming. Just getting the White Mushrooms to spawn can take a few minutes, let alone trying to get Stop as the third spell.
Using Power Shards
You’ll need 13 Power Shards in order to make one of everything that requires them. These items range from the humble mega-potion to the yummy Titan Chain, an accessory that has one of the best boosts to STR.
Yes, farming for Power Shards can be a pain. But ultimately, it’s worth that suffering.
