The Defender shield is dropped by the Heartless of the same name: Defenders.
Defender Heartless will start appearing once you reach Hollow Bastion for the first time, and at that point they’ll start spawning in most other worlds too.
The best place to farm for this shield is in Traverse Town, either in the Hotel Hallway or the Third District.
Make sure to have Encounter Plus on!
This shield is a beast. It could easily be considered Goofy’s best weapon in KH1, and you could comfortably use it to beat the game and all the optional bosses. It has the second-highest attack power and gives the Goof extra MP.
Is the Defender Worth Using?
Obviously!
There’s a reason the drop rate is so low: it’s worth it.
It has the second-best attack power, and the only thing better is in the depth of the final dungeon. Getting the Defender does require a lot of grinding, but at the same time Defenders are worth a lot of experience and Munny, so it’s a win all around (except for the Heartless).
