Save the King is obtained by clearing the Hades Cup in its time trial mode. This requires a high-ish level and good character planning. It asks you to use every tool you have in order to beat each fight and have time for the bosses.
This shield used to be Goofy’s end-all-be-all ultimate weapon in the original 2002 release of Kingdom Hearts.
But in Final Mix (which is how most people will play the game these days), Save the King has become the third best shield.
It’s still a very good weapon, but its lower attack makes it a very situational weapon.
Is Save the King Worth Using?
Again: it’s very situational.
It has one of the best MP boosts for a Goofy shield, and a good attack power, but it’s outclassed in both areas by subsequent weapons.
However, if you want that middle ground of good attack with MP then this is it.
Also, if you need the extra MP for MP Gift and Rage but haven’t earned anything better, this is a good choice too.
Remember though, that you have to battle through a Hades Cup time trial to get this – and it can be taxing on lower-leveled teams. The odds of getting a better shield elsewhere so you can power your way through the cup are good, and that’s an unfortunate situation.
