The Smasher can be purchased from the Traverse Town item shop for 450 Munny. It becomes available after defeating the Guard Armor in the Third District.
Whereas the Stout Shield (which also becomes available at the same time) focuses on defending Goofy, the Smasher focuses on offending him.
The Smasher has a fairly strong attack for the time at which you can obtain it, and is a much faster, lighter weapon.
Is the Smasher Worth Using?
Yes, and I’d say it’s the better choice over the Stout Shield.
In the early stages of the game, the decision between offense and defense should always lean towards offense, as it is much easier to overpower your enemies than to wait them out.
Both shield’s price points are exactly the same, too, and the Smasher is much more value for money.
