The Stout Shield is available at the Traverse Town item shop for 450 Munny. It becomes available after defeating Guard Armor in District Three.
This is a much larger shield than the Knight’s Shield.
While it doesn’t offer much more in terms of stats, it has a higher Recoil. Combine that with its size and you have a much sturdier piece of equipment.
Is the Stout Shield Worth Using?
Not really, no.
At the same time this appears in the shop, the Smasher also shows up – and that’s just a better piece of equipment.
The Stout Shield is good for Goofy’s longevity, but he has enough natural beefiness that the added size and recoil won’t matter too much, especially at the early stages of the game where offense really does preside as the go-to stat.
