Best Farming Spot | Beast’s Castle – Undercroft |
The only enemies that drop Dark Gems are Gargoyle Knights and Warriors.
Hands-down the best place to farm these two types is in the Undercroft in Beast’s Castle.
Here’s the best farming route:
Enter at the Dungeon save point and the Undercroft will be right there. Inside you’ll find five of each Warrior and Knight. Mop them up and return to the save point to leave the world and bring ‘em back.
Super easy. It’s one of the best grinding spots in the game and you’ll wish finding other materials was so easy. Now, let’s talk about actually fighting these Gargoyle ghoulies.
Gargoyle Knights
The Knights are the ones with swords.
They’re a lot more single-target focused then their brethren, using a variety of swings to try and slice Sora.
They have a rising sword attack that can also knock you into the air, which in and of itself is annoying, but when surrounded can lead to a lot of damage.
Liberal use of Reflect and Magnet to thin the ranks helps a lot.
The biggest thing to look out for is their Reaction Command, Release.
Once you see it pop, catch it and you’ll perform an exorcism on the ghost within and instantly defeat the beast.
It is one of the faster Commands, though, so you really have to pay attention. You’ll more often than not straight-up defeat them before you even see the Command, so don’t fret about it too much.
Gargoyle Warriors
They’re the statue heartless with the axes.
Gargoyle Warriors like to use big cleaves and spinning attacks to deal AOE damage.
Their numbers aren’t as high as the Knights, usually only two or three appear, but when they get going even that amount is enough to be a problem.
I’d suggest getting rid of the Warriors first.
As with the Knights, heavy use of spells like Reflect and Magnet helps a lot. Finish the combo with Vicinity Blast or Explosion and you’ve got a room of busted Gargoyles before you know it.
Warriors have the same Reaction Command as the Knights and it’s just as finicky.
If you can get it, cool, but focus more on just dealing as much damage as you can–it’s quicker that way.
Using Dark Gems
Dark Gems share a lot of the same recipes with the other members of the Dark family. All of them are so-so accessories.
They are important in growth, though. They all help your Moogle become better so you can eventually get the really good stuff.
