Dark Shards

The best way to farm for Dark Shards is to head to Mickey’s House in Cornerstone Hill and fight the Shadows and Soldiers inside.

Only Mickey’s House has Soldiers and Shadows (and that’s all that’s in there). So after you clear it out, exit Cornerstone Hill entirely, leaving for Disney Castle.

Note: You don’t need to exit the world map to reset the Heartless in Mickey’s House. Leaving to Disney Castle and returning is enough.

Soldiers

Soldiers are one of the classic varieties of Heartless.

They’ve been around since the start and have been just as easy since then. They shouldn’t provide too much of a challenge and are weak to just about everything.

The keyblade is perfect for sweeping through them, but to be even more efficient, you can throw out a Magnet or Fire spell.

Sora’s Explosion and Vicinity Blast abilities are also perfect.

There’s not a lot to say about Soldiers.

They have a Reaction Command, Cyclone, that they don’t use too much. When they do use it, catch it and destroy them in a second flat.

Shadows

Ah, the Shadow!

The de facto mascot of Kingdom Hearts, these little fellas are just so darn classic you can’t help but love them.

Of course, you have to destroy them, but you can do that with love…right?

Defeating a Shadow is one of the easiest things in the game.

There’s really nothing to say about how to do it, either.

They have super-low HP and defenses, so just do whatever you want. AOE spells like Magnet and Fire spells are great ways to mop them up, but you could just as easily get through with the keyblade.

They’re really adorable, though. Love these bois.

Using Dark Shards

You need 12 Dark Shards to make one of everything that requires them via synthesis. This is a fairly large amount, yes.

The accessories are useful for niche situations, but the Drive Recoveries are top-class and always useful.
