Farming Bookmasters in Radiant Garden is the best way to get Energy Crystals. These heartless are abundant right outside Merlin’s House, and you can use the save point there to easily reset their spawns.
Let’s take a closer look at this route and how to effectively defeat Bookmasters.
Radiant Garden – Borough
Enter Radiant Garden from the Merlin’s House save point and just leave the house.
Once you step outside the front door you’ll immediately fight four Bookmasters.
Clear out those four and then head straight and take the first left towards the exit leading to the Market.
You’ll find three more Bookmasters here. End them and return quickly to Merlin’s House to use the save point and reset everything via World Map.
Doing this you can fight six or so Bookmasters inside two minutes, and as you get more powerful that time lowers significantly.
Tip: Bookmasters are completely immune to almost all magic. The only two magic spells that are effective in any way are Magnet and Reflect. Magnet isn’t too great either.
Your keyblade is the key to beating them.
Physical attacks can close the book on their lives fairly quickly.
You can also guard or reflect their magic blasts back at them and this deals a surprisingly high amount of damage.
Another good endgame strategy is to just get them close together and spam Reflectaga. This can shred their stupid defenses.
Using Energy Crystals
Like all Energy materials in Kingdom Hearts II, the Crystals aren’t used directly in any recipe.
However, when you apply them to a recipe as an add-on you can cut the required materials needed in half.
The one caveat to this is that an Energy Crystal is required to make the Ultima Weapon.
The recipe calls for 13 Orichalcum+, but there are only 7 available so you’ll need to chip-chop that requirement in half.
Energy Crystals are also a huge help in making Mythril Crystals, which a large amount of are needed to make powerful items like Power and Defense ups. If you’re a min-maxer then you’d better get familiar with destroying Bookmasters!
