Best Farming Spot | Halloween Town – Candy Cane Lane |
The quickest way to farm Lucid Shards is to enter Halloween Town via the Yuletide Hill save point, exit to Candy Cane Lane, defeat the two Trick Ghosts that appear here, and then turn right around to exit the world & do it all again.
Trick Ghosts have the highest drop rate, and doing the above method has you fighting two in quick succession (as quick as it takes you to return to the save point to exit and re-enter the world).
Alternatively, you can head to Port Royal and fight Rabid Dogs, but they have a lower drop rate and their appearance can’t quite match the simplicity of the Trick Ghost method.
Trick Ghost
These things have a pretty cool design, right?
Their trick is that they have two forms, depending on how they’re standing.
When upside down and on the ground, they use whip and slam physical attacks. These can be guarded or dodged. This is the easier of its two styles.
When right side up the Trick Ghost goes airborne and gets annoying. As it flies, it shoots dark energy at Sora and this can deal some serious damage if you’re not paying attention. The obvious answer to this is to jump up and bring them down, but a flying Ghost has the bad habit of staying just out of reach.
Using Thunder and/or Blizzard will work, but Magnet and a well-timed Reflect works even better. Stay on your toes and be as aggressive as possible to take down Trick Ghosts and get their treats.
Rabid Dogs
There’s almost nothing to say about these things.
They are the parsley of the Heartless world. Just plate dressing and not much else.
Can they attack you?
Sure, but it’s not gonna do much.
They often appear in packs of six or so, but with an HP low enough to embarrass a slime, it doesn’t matter.
They actually fall asleep every now and then. That alone should tell you how much you need to worry. I bet a slight breeze would get these guys. Do you feel sorry for them? I do.
Doesn’t stop me from defeating them, though. Does that make me a bad guy?
Using Lucid Shards
Thankfully, you only need 4 Lucid Shards to make one of everything that requires them in KH2. This cuts down the annoying grind greatly and you’ll appreciate that.
Though maybe you want more? Mega-potions are pretty sweet and really helpful early on.
I’ll leave it up to you. Stay strong!
