The easiest way to get Manifest Illusions is just to make them via synthesis.
The other items required for this recipe aren’t too hard to obtain, and most of them are used in other recipes. So the odds are good that you’ll be defeating lots of birds with one stone.

Alternatively, you could go and fight the optional superboss Lingering Will. This beastie becomes available after beating the game and is a true challenge to your Kingdom Hearts skills. You’re guaranteed a Manifest Illusion every time you defeat it.
So let’s take a closer look at both these methods.
Synthesizing Manifest Illusions
Below is a quick table explaining each material you need in the Manifest Illusion recipe, along with a quick reference for the best way to get each material.
Item | Location |
---|---|
x1 Tranquility Crystal | High Score against any of the Mushroom XIII |
x1 Remembrance Crystals | Reckless Heartless in the Cavern of Remembrance |
x9 Bright Crystals | Crescendos and Neoshadows in Olympus. |
x1 Serenity Gem | Mad Bumpers in the Cave of Remembrance |
Tranquility Crystals
There are 13 Mushrooms scattered throughout the many worlds. Each one of them is a different minigame battle. Complete it with a high enough score and you’ll have a high chance of also scoring a Tranquility Crystal.
Remembrance Crystals
The only Heartless that drops Remembrance Crystals are the Reckless (pictured above).
These folks can be found in the Engine Chamber of the Cave of Remembrance. Getting to this particular area requires LV3 for all of Sora’s movement abilities that are learned from leveling up Drive Forms.
Bright Crystals
Enter Olympus from the Inner Sanctum Save Point and head backwards into the Passage. Down this long hall you’ll fight a lot of Heartless, including a fair number of Crescendos and Neoshadows.
Both these guys have a good chance of dropping the Crystal you need.
Serenity Gems
Fighting Mad Bumpers in the Cave of Remembrance’s Depths area is the quickest way to earn Serenity Gems.
You’ll need Sora’s High Jump LV2 to get into the Depths, but that’s an easy earn.
Alternative: Defeating the Lingering Will
After beating the game, you’re given an opportunity to save your game.
Do so, and you’ll get a snazzy crown on your save file.
This unlocks a bunch of stuff, the least of which not being a challenge against the Lingering Will.
This is easily the toughest fight in the game, and arguably the toughest in the whole Kingdom Hearts franchise.
Defeating Lingering Will takes a lot of gumption, practice, and power.
If you get good enough to defeat the will consistently, then yes, it is a good source of Manifest Illusions. But getting to that point may be a lot more than most players are willing to give.
Using Manifest Illusions
You’ll need 6 Manifest Illusions to make one of everything that requires them.
They are used to make the creme de la creme of accessories. Stuff like the Full Bloom and Full Bloom+ are awesome and powerful and Lucky Rings are fantastic tools for farming.
