Mythril Shards

Mythril Shards (like all Mythril materials) can only be obtained by either finding it in a chest or making it via Moogle Synthesis.

You are going to need about 50 Mythril Shards in order to make one of everything that requires them.

Let’s take a closer look at both methods and see how they work:

Mythril Shards in Chests

You can find 30 Mythril Shards in chests scattered across the many worlds.

Take a gander at the table below to see which worlds hold these chests and where they’re located.

Making Mythril Shards via Synthesis

While you can get a large portion of what you need through chests, you’re still going to need a fair amount of Shards. That’s where synthesis comes in.

Here’s what you need to make a Shard and what enemy drops it:

Dragoons can be found easiest in the Twilight Town Mansion Library.

Snipers can be found in the Hall of Empty Melodies (where you found Xigbar) for an easy farming spot.

Gamblers can be found in the Moon Chamber in the Sorcerer’s Tower in Twilight Town for an easy farming spot.

And Dancers are easily found in the Basement Corridor, right off the Computer Room in the Twilight Town Mansion.

Using Mythril Shards

All told, you’ll need about 50 Mythril Shards to get through all the synthesis lists in Kingdom Hearts II.

The exact number you need will vary depending on how you use Energy Crystals and what level your Moogle is (both of these things affect material usage).

You can find 30 out and about in chests, so it’s up to you to synthesize the remainder.
