Watermelons are a special ingredient only obtained as reward for completing the Watermelon Flan challenge; part of the Flantastic Seven side quest.

The Watermelon Flan appears after completing the storyline of The Caribbean. Warp in from the Fort save point and enter the main courtyard nearby. You will spot a giant watermelon placed right in the center of the area.

Examine it to make the Watermelon Flan appear.

The giant Watermelon Flan will challenge you to a minigame where you must shoot down rows of mini flans approaching the fort.

• Scoring at least 14,000 points will give you one Watermelon as a reward
• Hitting the high score of 28,000 will net you three Watermelons (and an ability on the first go)

Quick Tips:

Practice your Air Slides: You shoot down flans using four cannons lined at the fort. Running between the cannons takes longer. You won’t make it to all the cannons before the flans breach the fort.

To counter this, equip all the Air Slides from your abilities menu and unequip any Aerial Dodges you got. Air sliding between cannons will save time and let you cover more ground.

Also use Dodge Roll to cover shorter distances instead of just running around.

Look for a giant floating flan: While you’re taking down the mini flans flying towards the fort, a larger flan will appear floating sideways instead of coming at you.

Shooting down this flan will take out all the mini flans around it and give you an additional score boost.

Wait for the bell to sparkle: The bell at the center of the fort will occasionally start sparkling. Ringing this bell will make all four cannons go on a rapid fire barrage.

Use the bell whenever you feel you’re about to get overrun by the flans.
