Frost Gems
Dropped By
  • Frost Serpent (Attack the wings) (40%)
  • Sea Sprite (Blue) (6%)
Also Obtained By
  • Riding and breaking the snowballs in Arendelle after they’re large enough
Best Farming Spot
  • Arendelle – Frozen Wall

The best farming spot for Frost Gems is Arendelle. They are dropped by Frost Serpents when their wings break apart.

Or alternatively, you can also obtain Frost Gems in Arendelle by rolling snowballs around and destroying them after they’re large enough.

Tip: To unlock Frost Gems for purchase in the Moogle Shop, you need to collect 20 of them from the overworld first.

Arendelle (Frost Serpents Farming)

Land at the Mountain Ridge save point in the North Mountain area and head into the cave to your northeast.

Enter the Frozen Wall area and go down the mountain path until you arrive at a clearing where two Frost Serpents appear along with other smaller enemies.

These giant, skeletal, dragon-like Heartless are some of the toughest enemies you’ll face in Arendelle.

Along with Frost Stones, Frost Serpents also drop Frost Gems when you destroy their wings. Naturally, they are weak against fire – so spam your Firas or Firagas while targeting the wings.

With a 40% drop rate, you can acquire a considerable number of gems after a few runs.

To speed things up, just leave the fight after breaking their wings without killing them and warp back in from the save point to make them respawn.

Arendelle (Alternate Method)

This method involves breaking up snowballs, so it’s an obscure but valid way to farm more gems.

Disembark at the Mountain Ridge save point and enter the cave into the Frozen Wall area.

Here, go down the path and ignore the enemies altogether. Cross the clearing where you fought the Frost Serpents and follow the path up the mountain. What you’re looking for are snowballs scattered around the area, usually found on the sides along the path.

You can ride these snowballs and roll them around throughout the area.

What you need to do here is ride them along until they get enormous – there is no specific metric for this to guarantee a gem, but try to make them as big as possible.

Once they are large enough, smash them into the nearest tree or rock, and you will obtain a Frost Gem every time.

Note: If the snowballs are not large enough when they break, they’ll only give you frost shards. So make sure they are huge before you smash them.
