Hungry Crystals are one of the few crystal materials that you can obtain from more than one enemy. They can be farmed in San Fransokyo from Mechanitaurs, and from the Frost Serpents in Arendelle.
Note: You cannot buy or synthesize Hungry Crystals. They can only be obtained through regular farming methods.
San Fransokyo Farming Route
Land at the North District: Night save point and start exploring the area.

Mechanitaurs usually spawn under tall buildings and in the middle of the roads.
These heartless are a more aggressive version of the Satyrs. They are larger than Satyrs and their black armors have a more mechanical look.

Mechanitaurs attack by either charging at you or by using uppercuts to knock you in the air.

Both of these attacks are too strong to block, and it’s best to stay out of their way and attack using long-range magic attacks.
Mechanitaurs drop Hungry Crystals 8% of the time.
Just stock up on your ethers and spam your strongest spells to clear them out for fast drops.

Within a few runs of this route, you can gather a decent amount of crystals from them.

Arendelle Farming Route
If you’re up for the challenge, then you can also obtain Hungry Crystals from the Frost Serpents found in Arendelle.
First warp in from the Mountain Ridge save point and pass through the cave to the north to enter the Frozen Wall area.

Head down the mountain path until you reach a large clearing where a large enemy group will spawn, including a couple of Frost Serpents.
These gigantic skeletal dragons are hard to miss, with their huge wing-spans and icy spike-covered bodies.

Frost Serpents attack from the air by targeting you with lasers or casting huge tornadoes over the battlefield.

They will go underground and attack from beneath if their wings are destroyed.
In order to obtain Hungry Crystals, you want to keep them airborne and target their tails with fire magic.

You can get a number of materials from Frost Serpents by targeting different parts of their bodies. They drop Hungry Crystals from their tails 20% of the time.
Just equip all your Lucky Strikes; otherwise, you might get Hungry Gems instead of crystals from them.
Keep shooting Firagas at them till they drop the crystals.

To speed up the farming process, just leave the fight after you’ve acquired Hungry Crystals from both the Frost Serpents (you do not need to defeat them entirely for crystals to drop).
Then after you leave, re-enter the Frozen Wall area from the cave to reset all the enemies.
Battlegate 12
During the end-game, you can farm Hungry Crystals from Battlegate 12 located in San Fransokyo.
Battlegates appear throughout the worlds after completing the main story, where you can fight enemy hordes to earn rewards and farm materials.
To reach Battlegate 12, first warp in from the North District save point (day or night).

Stay close to the save point and look to your left to spot a tall circular building with giant fans spiraling around the top.

Approach this building and wall-run to the top.
The blue crystal entrance to Battlegate 12 will be situated on top of the helipad of the building.
