Lightning Shards

Various enemies in the first three worlds of KH3 do drop Lightning Shards, but the fastest way to farm them is in the Toy Box world. The shards are dropped by Marionettes at Galaxy Toys in the Babies and Toddlers: Dolls store.

Note: Lightning Shards can be purchased in the Moogle Shop after you’ve collected 30 of them on the field.

Toy Box Farming Route

Enter the world from the Main Floor: 3F save point and head east.

Look for the Babies and Toddlers: Dolls store.

Upon entering, Marionettes waste no time in attacking you. Like the name suggests, these Heartless look like puppets stringed to floating discs.

These enemies aren’t that much of a challenge and can be easily defeated.

But the trick here is to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Because if the fight drags on, they will start possessing the toys in the store, and the battle will get significantly tougher.

The Marionettes have a decent 12% drop rate for Lightning Shards. Just remember to dispatch them quickly and your shard collection will significantly increase after a few repeat runs.

Run back to the nearest save point and warp back in to make them respawn.

Battlegate 1

After completing the main story, Battlegates open up throughout the worlds, where you can fight swarms of enemies for rewards and riches.

For Lightning Shard farming, you want to head to Olympus and look for Battlegate 1.

Land at the Summit save point in the Mount Olympus area.

Visible in the distance, you will see a grand staircase going up in the heavens. Ascend it and enter the Realm of the Gods area.

Carry on straight ahead and you will come across a blue round crystal with pointed shards around it. This is the entrance to Battlegate 1.

Using Lightning Shards

Lightning Shards are required for six recipes, and you’ll need to get at least 26 shards in total to synthesize at least one of each recipe.
