Soothing Gems are some of the rarer synthesis materials in KH3. They are dropped by the Marine Rumba found in Monstropolis, and by the Sea Sprites (rainbow) in The Caribbean.

Both of these Heartless have a similar drop rate for Soothing Gems, so if you’re looking to farm more, you could really choose either of those heartless to go after.

Soothing Gems can also be bought from the Moogle Shop after you collect a total of 20 of them as drops first.

Monstropolis Farming Route

Enter from the Upper Level save point and head for the rails.

You will encounter the Marine Rumbas as well as other Heartless while grinding on the rails.

The Marine Rumbas are the water-based variant of the elemental mages found throughout the series.
They wear light blue pointy hats and have dark blue bodies. They have three orbs of water swirling around them, which they use to attack with water magic.

The Marine Rumbas cast water projectiles of varied intensities after conjuring the orbs of water around them.

They are immune to water magic and resistant to fire magic. But they have a weakness for thunder magic, so cast Thundagas to try to clear them out fast.

The rails in the Door Vault area as well as the surrounding areas are a great spawning spot for Marine Rumbas.

Their drop rate for Soothing Gems is only 6%, so you will need to make a few runs around the area to gather a respectable amount of gems.

But just leave the world and re-enter from the Upper Level save point to make them respawn and rinse and repeat as required.

The Caribbean Farming Route

Another good spot for farming Soothing Gems is in The Caribbean.

What you need to look for are the Sea Sprites found throughout the underwater areas of The Caribbean.

Land at the Docks save point and immediately dive into the sea.

Swim towards the open expanse of water near the flock of jellyfish and you will encounter multiple groups of Sea Sprites throughout the area.

The Sea Sprites are large fish-like Heartless that always appear in groups of four or more.

What you’ll immediately notice is that they like to change colors.

They can glow red, blue, and yellow to represent their elemental affinities towards fire, blizzard and thunder respectively.

However, to obtain Soothing Gems, you need to look for the ones who aren’t glowing in any elemental colors.

Instead, try to spot the ones that have a rainbow-like glow to them.

These rainbow colored Sea Sprites have a couple of basic attacks that you can mostly avoid.

And all kinds of magic work well against them, except for aero. Just use your combos or any large area of effect spells to take them out quickly.

They also drop Soothing Gems at a low 6% rate so you will need to circle around the area more than a few times to gather a good haul of gems.

Just remember that the Sea Sprites change color every two minutes. So after you clear them out, just wait for the others to turn rainbow again.

Then board your ship and fast-travel back to Port Royal & return to have all enemies respawn.

Battlegate 10

You can farm Soothing Gems a bit faster during the end-game from Battlegate 10 located in The Caribbean.

Battlegates open up in every world after completing the main storyline of the game.

Here’s how to reach this specific Battlegate:

Enter the Caribbean from the Undersea Cavern save point and head south.

Cross the large cavern and exit on the other side.

Upon landing ashore, follow the tunnel to reach a large cave.

The blue crystal entrance of Battlegate 10 will be on the far end of the cave.
