Wellspring crystals can be farmed fastest either in San Fransokyo or The Caribbean worlds.
The High Soldiers drop them in San Fransokyo, and the Anchor Raiders drop them in The Caribbean. You can choose either location for farming depending on the level of challenge you’re willing to take.
Note: Wellspring Crystals cannot be purchased or synthesized at the Moogle Shop. They can only be acquired through regular farming.
San Fransokyo Farming Route
Land at South District: Night save point and start exploring the area.
High Soldiers appear in large groups between alleyways and main roads.
The High Soldiers are just a more aggressive version of the regular Soldiers.
They can be distinguished from regular Soldiers by their dual-horned helmets and vividly yellow claws. Their outfits are black instead of blue, with red markings over their shoulders.
They use the regular lunge and scratch attacks, which don’t pose much of a threat.
They also jump down at you with an aerial kick, which can’t be blocked.
Their HPs aren’t that high so you can easily take them out with your regular combos.
They are also weak to blizzard, so using Blizzaga will almost instantly neutralize them.
High Soldiers have a decent 12% rate for dropping Wellspring Crystals. Just use Blizzaga or even Thundaga on entire groups and you can farm a solid number of crystals every run.
Then for more, just re-enter the world from the nearest save point to have all enemy groups respawn.
The Caribbean Farming Route
If you’re up for the challenge, you can also farm Wellspring Crystals from the Anchor Raiders found in The Caribbean.
Anchor Raiders spawn at the Isle of Luck in the High Seas area of The Caribbean.
To reach the Isle of Luck, you need to have access to your ship.
Board your ship and open your sea chart.
The Isle of Luck is located on the western side of the map.
Fast travel to the island and disembark.
Upon arriving, three Anchor Raiders will attack you.
Anchor Raiders appear to be dangling from an anchor in mid-air. They have half-humanoid bodies wearing red coats and pirate hats. They also wield a large, flaming red sword in one hand.
The Anchor Raiders are formidable enemies with very strong, unpredictable attacks.
They can lunge at you from a long distance, swing their swords and stomp on you from the air.
They have high HPs and can get especially dangerous if they gang up on you. But they have a weakness to blizzard magic, so use it to your advantage.
Anchor Raiders drop Wellspring Crystals at an 8% rate.
Use Blizzagas on them to hack away their HPs and you can gather a decent amount of crystals from the three of them after a few runs. Remember to equip your Lucky Strikes and restock your Ethers before facing them.
Then to make them respawn, just fast-travel back to the Isle of Luck from your ship.
Battlegate 12
The fastest way to farm Wellspring Crystals during end-game is at Battlegate 12, located in San Fransokyo.
Warp in from the North District save point (night or day). To your left will be a dark circular building with giant fans floating around it.
Climb it and reach the top, where you can find the blue spherical crystal which leads to Battlegate 12 over the helipad.
Using Wellspring Crystals
Wellspring Crystals are required for twenty seven recipes, and you must have at least 41 crystals in total to synthesize at least one copy of each recipe.
